With the season nearing its closure and only the 7's finals ahead of us this coming Saturday (23.06.2012) in AGM (14.06.2012)Last week saw the AGM hosted whereby a new comittee was voted for and put into place to look over the club in the coming season. We would like to thank all those who spent time in the comittee last year and played a role in the clubs success, we would also like to thank the incoming members for offering their services. The new comittee looks as follows: Chairman: Antonio de Vall Touring Team (19.06.2012)Last friday a touring side from England blessed us with their presence and started off their tour in our favourite Irish pub, flanagans. Here they invited our boys to the pre-match warmup where their social and singing skills were put to the ultimate test, still prevailing to make the game on Saturday morning at Dirnelwiese. Their 22 strong team faced our Barbarian team a mixture of 1st XV, Wanderers and C team boys and one girl (thanks Anna). The temperature rose to a high 32 degrees by kick off which made it very difficult to cope however two 25 minute halves where agreed on and the game took place, offering many a try from both teams. the actual score was never noted but word has it that the Englanders won it in the last minute by a conversion. After match celebrations started straight away, where many favored water over beer because of the harsh conditions. Eventually the party moved on taking a few Celts with them to Bratislava where their tour continued. Word has not come back yet if they survived Bratislava, and neither have we had word from the few Celts who joined but we hope that they had a great time and enjoyed our company as we did theirs. All in all Celtic enjoyed their presence, hospitality and especially the rugby with them. Austrian 7's Final Tournament
A strong celtic 7s squad made the way down to Wr. Neustadt on theweekend ready to claim the Austrian Sevens Title. Unfortunately they did not manage to gain the trophy losing to successfully defendingchampion Donau in the semi final stage.
Many thanks to the hosts who once again held a magnificent rugby festivity, and congradulations to RC Donau for taking the title. Vienna Celtic 1st XV fails to gain the Title
Vienna Celtic 1st XV team failed once again to gain the trophy from RC Donau for the second consecutive year. Handling errors and the failure to dominate in the set pieces cost the team most of the points made against them. A full report will follow shortly. In the mean time take a look at the report video from ORF Final Score: RC Donau 39: Vienna Celtic 8
Great thanks goes out to the Sponsors, supporters, organizers and players who made it possible for the team to make the final...
We hope to see you all next season again. |
